Fraunhofer IPMS provides advanced quantum foundry services based on state-of-the-art 200 mm and 300 mm CMOS-compatible semiconductor technologies. Our capabilities include process development, micro- and nanofabrication, materials integration, wafer-level processing, process qualification, and pilot manufacturing. By leveraging industrial semiconductor infrastructure, we enable the scalable production and integration of quantum devices and support the transition from laboratory concepts to manufacturable technologies.

Fraunhofer IPMS is actively involved in European pilot lines to accelerate the transfer of technology from research into industrial application.

We develop enabling technologies for scalable quantum processors with a strong focus on semiconductor compatibility and industrial integration. We offer know-how across multiple qubit platforms, including superconducting, spin, photonic, and neutral-atom qubits.

Our expertise covers advanced materials, high-resolution lithography, cryogenic and RF characterization, 3D integration, quantum control electronics, embedded hardware and software, ASIC and FPGA design, and secure RISC-V IP cores.

We support the development of next-generation quantum processors through reliable, manufacturable technology platforms.

Fraunhofer IPMS develops secure quantum communication technologies for future communication infrastructures. Our portfolio includes Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG), free-space optical quantum communication, beam steering technologies, spatial light modulators, key management systems, and the integration of quantum and classical communication networks. These technologies enable trusted and resilient communication solutions for critical infrastructures and industrial applications.

 

 

Quantum Sensing

Fraunhofer IPMS focuses on CMOS-integrated quantum sensing based on NV-diamond technology for highly sensitive magnetic field measurements at room temperature. By combining photonics, microelectronics, and semiconductor manufacturing, we develop compact, scalable, and energy-efficient quantum sensors for applications in healthcare, industry, energy, navigation, and scientific instrumentation.
