RTO proposition for a competitive European quantum technology industry

18 November, 2020 11:33 am

Leading RTOs in Europe just wrote a white paper about the need of a stronger focus on the development of globally competitive, European ecosystems and Europe-centered value chains based on quantum technologies.

“Europe’s Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) are one of the cornerstones of Europe in taking the next steps towards a competitive European quantum industry. RTOs are a typical European phenomenon:
high-tech, collaborative, supporting the private sector driven by public purpose. In this unique role, RTOs are the oil in the European competitiveness machine, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industrial capacities.”

A next step will need a stronger involvement of industrial companies, public-private collaboration, investments in accessible, pan-European infrastructures as well as maintaining scientific excellence.

“Europe has everything it needs to lead globally in the second quantum revolution, but we need to act collectively now!”

The paper will be presented at the RTO Innovation Summit, discussed with members of the European Parliament and shared with the European Commission.
