NeQxt is an ion-trap quantum computing company, spun out of Mainz University in 2022. It features a full-stack approach covering hardware development, software tools, consulting services and quantum computing time.
Founders of neQxt have successfully operated trapped ion quantum computers since 2010, using in-house developed and in-house built 3D ion traps, vacuum chambers, and control electronics. The team has built up unique expertise covering the entire development of quantum computing hardware, including the ion traps, electronics, and vacuum systems, as well as the entire software stack, compilers, user interfaces and device drivers. An additional group of experts works on quantum error correction and useful quantum algorithms.
On one end of the spectrum, current developments focus on innovative modular approaches, integrating more than 200 interconnected qubits, designed to achieve globally competitive low error rates, as a base for modular, scalable systems with several thousand qubits. On the other end, field-deployable mobile quantum computers are under development, focusing on small size and weight, low power consumption, and sufficient robustness. A number of useful quantum applications have been developed with collaboration partners.
