SemiQon’s mission is to realise the promise of quantum computing
Are you driven to build the hardware that will power the next generation of quantum technologies? Do you enjoy hands-on experimental work, turning measurement data into insights, and collaborating closely with device design and fabrication? Join SemiQon as a Cryogenic and Quantum Devices R&D Engineer and help advance cryogenic electro-thermal and quantum devices from concept to working components.
Role overview
As a Cryogenic and Quantum Devices R&D Engineer at SemiQon, you will contribute to the development, measurement, and optimisation of cryogenic electro-thermal and quantum devices. In this role, you will plan and perform low-temperature electrical measurements, analyse device data, and use modeling and design work to guide experimental development. You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and the fabrication team to connect device concepts, fabrication processes, measurement feedback, and performance improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Perform cryogenic electrical measurements of electro-thermal and quantum devices
- Model and design devices to guide experiments and support performance optimisation
- Plan and execute experiments in collaboration with the R&D and fabrication teams
- Analyse measurement data and communicate findings to guide device and process improvements
- Work closely with the fabrication team to connect device design, process development, and measurement feedback
Qualifications
Must have
- Ph.D. degree, or equivalent experience, in physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology, semiconductor devices, quantum technology or a related field
- Hands-on experience with electronic transport measurements
- Hands-on experience with cryogenic experimental setups, especially in the sub-1 K temperature range
- Strong understanding of solid-state physics, electrical transport, and device physics
Additional assets
- Understanding of component fabrication, with hands-on fabrication experience considered a strong advantage
- Experience in modeling, simulation, or theoretical analysis of semiconductor, thermal, electro-thermal, or quantum devices
- Experience in characterizing electro-thermal devices, such as Peltier devices or NIS-junction-based components
- Experience with custom thermometry, such as on-chip thermometry
Note: Security clearance vetting may be required for this position.
